To Southampton overnight, dental checkup for Cathie next morning

Yesterday we left Waterloo and went to Southampton for another moochdock at our friends Don and Sherry. They had a problem they thought we could help them with. Poor Don wanted to cook up a mess of rolled ribs and chicken wings, and didn't think they could eat them all by themselves. So of course we agreed to help out.

This one's for you George:
Wings and ribs, yum
Fresh asparagus, cheese buns. Baked potato not shown.

Even with our eager help there were still some leftovers for next day, always good.

D&S have a small trailer parked in their back yard, decorated by their daughter a few years ago. A great little bunkie:

We were away from Southampton bright and early Tuesday to a dentist in Port Elgin. Cathie had some dental surgery there a couple of weeks ago, this was a follow-up to make sure things are healing as they should. All is well.

After the dentist we headed to Wiarton with our little electric heater. We've used one of the Caframo heaters as needed in our trailers and van over the past 13 years or so, and the fan just up and quit one day recently, making the heater run very hot!

We like this heater in particular because it has a low heat / quiet fan setting. Most little heaters can roast us out of the van on their low setting, so they do a lot more off/on cycling.

Unfortunately the Caframo plant in Wiarton does no repairs (although you can get parts there if you do your own repair). The fan actually worked this time when tested, but we decided to replace it anyway. They don't do direct sales (Home Hardware is a retailer), but are allowed to sell us a heater for a good price if we leave the old one for recycling, which we did. We didn't want to trust the old one anymore. The new ones come with a 5 year warranty, as did our old one 13 years ago. They are built to last.

Then we headed to Oliphant to see if we could boondock overnight at their main public beach area. Not this year!

If you're familiar with Oliphant, you'll maybe recognize this as usually an area of sand that people walk or drive around on. It's beside the island cottager parking area (barely visible in the background). Pretty much all the normally sandy public area is underwater due to the high lake water levels this year.

So tonight we're back at our Waterloo daughter's place. We're (im)patiently waiting for delivery of our replacement laptop computer. Once it arrives we hope to head east to PEI et al for a summer holiday. We had hoped to be out there a couple of weeks ago, but things keep popping up to derail our plans.

Monday's trip:

Tuesday:

... and back to Waterloo.

    1. We've been out to the East coast a lot too, over the years, likely about 25 times now. Cathie has had sisters out that way, and one still lives close to Charlottetown. We just never tire of it.
