A cool 11C Friday morning, and Framing has started!

It dropped to 11C in the wee hours this morning, and was still the same at 7 am. Today we're going to travel the Cabot Trail loop yet again.

First though, framing has started on our Bayfield block! Not on our unit yet, they start at one end and work through the block of 4 units. We'll be the third one started.

After a leisurely start we hit the trail. It was a cool start, only 12C at 9am. The forecast high at the campground was 25C, but up to 26C with the humidex. I've never seen a humidex only 1 degree higher than actual. It stayed cool all the way around the Trail drive, only reaching the forecast 25C at the end, near Baddeck.

We had to stop at the Larch Cutting Board outlet. There is a nearby factory that makes these fancy and expensive cutting boards from Larch wood, taking advantage of the woodgrain. This is one of their nicer patterns :

You may be able to read the price at the bottom ($250 for this one). Don't expect any Larchwood cutting boards gifts! Nice to see some local industry though, they've been making them for years.

A nice-looking modern bridge over the Margaree River beside the Larch outlet:

Going in to the scenic parts of the Trail:

A waterfall we first stopped at many years ago (over 45), looks a bit different but still going:

Of course there was a rug-hooking shop along the way for Cathie to check out. The lady said there are very few hookers locally now, all gracefully ageing.

Along the way we came across these interesting cabin rentals, each cabin a geodesic dome with its own hot tub:

A good lobster roll lunch at the Rusty Anchor restaurant, easily splittable but we didn't:

Some wildlife posed along the way:
A little awkward getting in and out of the van with these on...

  2. Looks like a wonderful day. Drove the Cabot Trail once, way back in 1988. It was thick fog the entire drive!
