Les Jardins NB to Mactaquac NB

A shorter day today, we toured mostly along the St John River from Les Jardins de la Republique park to Mactaquac park, both New Brunswick provincial parks. We tried to follow the old highway route we used to take through NB, as it mostly followed the St John river valley, a very scenic drive. 

Only a partial success, but we did enjoy the drive, mostly along highways like 144, 105, 103. Once in a while we'd pop back to #2, the newer official Trans-Canada Highway route. While it does have some nice overviews, #2 is far removed from any small towns or riverside contact.

The town of Nackawic NB boasts the world's largest axe. It's pretty big (that's Cathie standing in front of it):

Tonight we're parked in a nice shady site in Mactaquac Prov park. The shade is very welcome even though the temp is only about 24C today:

    Been nice here, as in , not too humid!
    Had some landscaping work done , new steps and retaining wall,,, so good weather for that!
