A morning around the Rio Bravo campground

It was cool last night, down to 1C (about 33F). We have a little Wave 3 propane heater, and it got a workout. It was actually 5C about dawn, then dropped steadily as the early morning got brighter. It's a beautiful sunny day again, with a forecast high of 13C by 4pm.

We decided to take a little drive along the river while the morning was too cool to sit outside. Lots of morning pictures, too many to keep until later today:

A popular sport fishing area along the Rio Grande

A fly fisherman was already at work

This is the bridge at the end of our adventure ride into the canyon the other day

Similar warning signs were at the top too.

The white truck in the upper middle is on the road to the top.
This conveyance crosses the river, used for monitoring river flow etc

Does Cathie look nervous? It's padlocked, won't move right now.

The propulsion. A rod rotates the wheel on the cable, manually of course.

One of the small campgrounds being improved with shelters for next year

Partway back, a river rafting run was setting out

A heavy load

Deluxe tour bus for the rafting group (there were 3 other rafts too)

One raft arriving at the takeout point, our campground

Takeout was after just 1/2 hr raft ride, because it's so cool today

The group was having a special lunch, catered at a large rotunda shelter at our campsite, the other side of the washroom building shown here:

Here's our campsite for a couple more nights:

  1. What fascinating scenery; I'm really enjoying touring via your blog. Have you seen any rattle snakes or is it too cold?

    1. I think it's too cold already, around here anyway. It was down to about -2C last night. We haven't seen any snakes or big spiders, thank goodness.

    1. Thanks Elaine. Yep the Rio Grande is a real pretty river up this way. Further south it disappears in places, because of all the irrigation draws.
