Whitehorse to Watson Lake

It was a cool 1C at 7am PDT today, nice to have the propane heater to turn on. It quickly warmed things up. Breakfast was a fried egg sandwich with our new eggs. By the time we were away from the cg about 9am, it was sunny and had warmed up to 8C.

On the way in to Whitehorse we decided I had to go to Emerg because of my ear infection problems. Great service there, an hour later we had a prescription to fill that actually fixed the problem this time.

We also had another good browse around town, after parking at the tourist centre again. We can't hardly believe we didn't take any pictures, the town is so engraved on our memories. At a sporting goods store Gord got a new set of ear protectors for use when mowing the grass, and he really wanted to get one of their shotguns too, but didn’t.

After getting a few groceries, fuel, and a couple of Tim’s crullers to go, we headed on our way out of town. We stopped for a ham sandwich lunch break in a park beside a lovely lake, 14.5C at 1:30. Kids were actually in the water at the lake, brrrr.

On the way out, we had decided to take hwy 37 south (aka the Cassiar hwy) from the Yukon down into BC. We also decided to go on to Watson Lake first, to check conditions there for the southern road, and to get fuel (20 cents cheaper than at the intersection where we would head south later). We camped just outside WL at a Yukon govt cg, nice spot with no hookups, good clean vault toilets again, $12.
