Boat cruise from Valdez

Today we’re going on a cruise. Billed as a minimum 7 hr cruise, we were out for 10 hours. It got a little slow in places, but we definitely got our money’s worth. The captain is quite a character, and his spiel really added to the trip.

We saw lots of wildlife, including fin whales, orcas, seabirds, seals, sea otters, eagles. We also got up close and personal with the Columbia glacier, working right through the ice field until it seemed we could almost touch the glacier. There were lots of ice chunks and small icebergs floating around, leading to a drastic drop in temperature. Luckily we had our choice of several different inside and outside places to see from. The inside areas were heated, which really felt nice sometimes.

LOTS of pictures of this day, I'll include a few to give the flavour of it.
