We went by another herd of wood buffalo just browsing in the grass at the side of the road. A black bear crossed the road in front of us, in the rain. That's a boondocker in the background:
Later on we cooked a hot breakfast at a roadside rest area, still drizzly at 8:15, still 12C too. A bedraggled fox with a lame back leg crossed in front of us too quickly for a picture, game leg and all.
We reached Watson Lake about 10 am. This spot had cell service so Cathie got caught up on emails etc. The tourist center had free wifi too, so I used it with my phone. Not as good as the cellular wifi. We were able to get very reasonably-priced fuel at Watson Lake, right across from the tourist center.
We finally stopped for a lunch break along the Morley River about 2pm.
Overcast but up to 18C. We honked at a big porcupine so he wouldn’t run into us. Rain showers off and on.

We arrived in Whitehorse about 5pm, and went downtown to the tourist info center (TIC) first thing. What a great spot, well signed and easy to find, with free parking for visitors, even for RV’s. We were able to park in a regular spot, saving the big pull through spots for those poor souls that needed them. Lovely-looking city, we’ll come back in tomorrow and explore it.
After getting some info, we went out to Hi Country cg, just across the main highway from town, and signed up for 2 nights, $61, w/e. A smallish site, but nice. Good facilities, even a power wash station that can handle RVs. I washed the van, 6 minutes for a loonie.
