From Yahk BC to Okanagan Falls BC

A lot of wet travel today, but sun peeking through too

We woke early again today, to the sound of raindrops on the roof. It got us going, and we headed out about 6:15 PDT (9:15 EDT). Hwy 3 worked well again today, especially in the early hours when little traffic was about.

Soon we came to the town of Creston. We have been near and around here before, but don't remember ever going through the town. What a pretty town and area it is:

Lots of running water around as we moved up the Kootenay pass on the Crowsnest highway:

A few seconds of relaxing water music:

Over the Kootenay pass, up in the snow at about 1740 metres:

Chalet at the top of the pass

Always some road repairs going on

There were quite a number of runaway lanes if vehicles have brake problems

A few Bighorn sheep were quietly grazing at the side of the road:

We stopped for some pics at a farm we had noticed in 2022, a somewhat eclectic mix of birds and animals:

Numerous Ostrich, of varying ages

A large group of goats

Looks like an ostrich family were segregated

Carrying on, we descend a long hill to Osoyoos:

Looking down at the town of Osoyoos

Many newer houses on precarious-looking hillside sites

Another view of Osoyoos

After getting through Osoyoos town, it's another nice drive through orchard country on the way to Okanagan Falls:

Besides being welcomed by Donna, more residents were on hand in her front yard to say hello, all Bighorn Sheep bachelors on their own while the ewes were off birthing and raising their young :

3 big rams came over initially

and stayed, digesting their recent grassy meals

A few more came by to join them

A good quiet time

Until they all filed away, looking for greener pastures

Here's a short video of some of the action, before they came back to lie down:

Today's route:
