Dad Loon was always in the area at yesterday's camp |
We did see more of the loons after publishing yesterdays post, so thought we'd include a couple more pics:
Usually the chicks were with Mom |
Sometimes she'd dive though. Oh No Where's Mom! |
Dad was always ready to comfort the "lost" chicks |
If you're ever passing by Hixon BC along Hwy 16, see this sign:
... and are tempted to go see the attraction... we'd recommend NOT. The falls were back a road that went from rough pavement, washboard gravel, then potholed and muddy gravel. One of those roads where you think, hmm it's getting worse maybe we should go back. Oh well, we've come this far, lets see it through....
We parked about .5 km from the falls site because we thought the van wouldn't make it back up that last downhill:
It was pretty but not worth the rough drive in (8 km round trip). We did take our bear defenses for the short hike, as it wouldn't have surprised us to see a bear down there:
Doesn't look like much of a hill, but the camera doesn't do it justice. So at least we got a few hiking steps in today Stew.
She used an ingenious wheel clipped on to the table frame to turn it into a wheelbarrow.
We heard today that some of the route we drove yesterday morning from Kelowna to Merrit had new snow today, causing some problems. Whew, dodged that bullet!

Prince George was a bit of a traffic zoo. It's really grown since we were by in 2015. It didn't help that we got turned around and off-route in town.
Tonight we're parked at another luxury (to us) camp, Shady Rest RV Park. It's quite nice, and has electric hookup (it's supposed to get down to freezing here tonight), WiFi and great hosts. We expect to do more boondocking but are taking advantage of civilization while it's available.
