Hanging around Cave Creek area

We’ve decided to stay put here for a couple more days, and just hike around. It’s such a beautiful area. This morning we enjoyed our morning coffee listening to NPR radio. It was only 1.5C this morning, so our little propane heater was much appreciated!

A beautiful site across the road from us opened up this morning, so we quickly grabbed it. It’s sunnier, more level for the van, and has a nice little terrace for the picnic table etc.



We did go for a 3 mile hike along South Fork Rd this morning, with some bird sightings and some furry wildlife. We also encountered a fellow out walking his 3 dogs, complete with his pistol holstered on his hip.

After the hike we dropped in to the Visitors Center and used their free wifi. They told us that Douglas was really the closest shopping, so we then headed back there for fuel and a Walmart visit for more supplies. This is one of the Walmarts we visited that had huge canopies shading the parking lot. The canopy roofs are made up of solar panels:
