White Mtns VT to St Andrews NB Canada

A driving day today. The rain had stopped overnight, it was 10C and overcast at 7am. It was a slow trip at times due to construction mostly, but also a beautiful drive with some nice new pavement too.

We’ve never noticed so many Honda Elements before. These are kind of a crossover vehicle that has appealed to us over the years. They haven’t been brought into Canada for years now, yet the ones we saw were all in excellent condition.

We decided to take the turnpike from Auburn to Augusta ME on I95, $1.75 toll. From there it was toll-free to Bangor and beyond. 26C and sunny at 10:30 am.

After stopping at a Duty Free store we had an easy entry back into Canada at the Calais/St Stephen crossing. By 2:30 we were headed to St Andrews NB, 20C with a chilly breeze. We camped at the Kiwanis Park again, pricey at $36/night for an unserviced site, but a GREAT location, very good central facilities, and CDN$.

After showers we went to town for supplies, but just got some small red potatoes. We wanted some scallops, but they were either small and frozen with freezer burn, or fresh and not looking good. Disappointing in a town that still has a fishing fleet. After a sit with G&T’s on a nice afternoon we enjoyed a walk along the beach road.
