St Andrews NB to Amherst Shore Provincial Park NS

A warmer day today, sunny and 22.5C at 10:30. We were out on the bikes before 7:30, down to a shore-side bench with our morning coffee:
Fishing boats heading out

Looked like a showdown, not sure who blinked first

Then on into town for the local market that opened about 8:30:

Bike check, didn't see the deer

Some of these houses are cottage rentals, right near downtown

After the town tour we took the trail back to the campsite:

Lots of deer around town

We picked up a tomato, wild blueberries (were they ever good!), artisan bread and some garlic buns. We had the buns for 1st breakfast right away, then blueberries on cereal for 2nd breakfast later (hobbit-style today).

It was still fairly early in the morning when we left St Andrews, having had another short but great stay there. We stopped near Amherst for Nova Scotia info, and were disappointed when they could give us little info on NS Provincial Parks. The girl we talked to there, working in one of the major NS Tourist Info stops, was pretty clueless about NS Parks. It’s a nice spot for a picnic though.

As usual, a piper welcomes visitors to Nova Scotia

We did eventually find the Amherst Shore Prov Park, off #6 to #366, $24.35 seniors rate unserviced. Nice park, lots of large private sites. We napped and read for a while, then hiked about 2.5 km down to the shore section of the park. Another G&T late afternoon and some relax time.

Beach access under the highway
