The tide was out |
First we stopped at a Wolfville laundromat, not a very good one as it turned out. Cath stayed and did the laundry, although she had to buy some quarters from another customer, while Gord went over to Kentville Staples to replace a misplaced USB memory stick.
After the laundry etc we headed to the market, picking up some smoked salmon and yellow beans there. It's a fairly large local market with lots of interesting crafts as well.
We took the scenic route “home”, stopping at Fox Hollow Cheese Store for some marvellous old cheddar with a creamy texture. Something to do with the way they make the cheese there, as Old is usually not creamy.
Then we wound our way around to Kingsport, and went for a walk on the beach. It was a nice little cove with a number of locals around, and a boat launch with several boats waiting for the tide to get high enough. It’s difficult to launch a small boat most places around Fundy, because of the extreme tides. A large ramp is needed.
We got up close and personal with the mud flats as it was low tide, getting stuck a few times even after taking the Crocs off. Crocs work great for this kind of walking. We managed to not fall over, but sure had some muck partway up our legs.
Many many snail-like critters on the ebb tide |
Yep it's muddy all right |
We weren't the only shoeless roamers |
Afterwards we watched a few boats being launched down the long ramp, then had a picnic in the van, watching the tide come in.
We headed back to camp (Blomidon) for some relax time, 22C and sunny at 2pm, a real nice day.
