The Quebec rest areas are pretty good for washrooms and a picnic area. Only the first rest area past Montreal had drinkable water though. If you come this way, be sure to bring your own drinks. We usually pack a lunch the night before (ok, Cathie usually packs it, but I help eat it!).
p.s. Most of the rest areas East of Toronto were closed, as they are being rebuilt. It's still easy to find food and fuel by going off at the interchanges, which are well-signed. It's hard to find a picnic area though.
The Montreal bypass: for the second time, we exited hwy 20 at exit 14, before getting into Montreal at all, then worked our way over to #132 and #30 to bypass Montreal to the south and east. Eventually this will be a good bypass, once the 4-lane #30 sections are all finished and joined up. Right now though, it's confusing at times. Twice we were lucky enough to make the right guess as to which way to go.
Our GPS was no help at all, even with recently-updated maps, as Jill wanted us to stay on the TCH right through Montreal. She kept trying to get us to make a Uturn back to her route.
