Ft Stockton TX to Elephant Butte NM

The Daylight Savings Time switch lost us an hour this morning, but we’ll get it back later when we cross into New Mexico, and go to Mountain DST.

At a rest stop along I10, we and the dogs discovered Texas Tacks, those nasty goat-head stickers that are known by several names. We sure enjoyed the scenery along the way today though.

Lots of traffic in El Paso, even on a Sunday. A very busy place, very prosperous-looking. We stopped at a heavily-advertised rug outlet, but they were closed on Sundays! Our Lab hasn't been feeling well for a couple of days, and an emergency stop was required coming out of El Paso for her. Good break at the new Camping World at the north end of El Paso though.

We stopped for gas in Las Cruces, then headed northwest via I25 to Elephant Butte. Curt had reserved 2 nights at Lakeside park there. Very threatening-looking skies as we headed north, and some light rain.

When we got to the park, no reservation! They had us booked for a week later, but were able to accommodate us with some minor shuffling. Good thing, as this stay was the highlight of the trip, and we ended up staying a week.
