We went on a short hike right from the c.g. today, a loop around nearby Sprague Lake. Mountain view from our c.g. entrance:
The surrounding trees show a lot of damage, from beetles apparently:
A lot of the dead trees are salvaged for firewood, but some is just burned on site |
It's a beautiful setting and lake otherwise though:
In the late afternoon we went elk viewing again, taking our neighbour Jim with us this time. No real excitement, but nice watching the pre-rut interactions of cows, mature and immature bulls.
Apologies for the fuzzy pictures, not sure what happened. They were all like that this evening.
