Scotland Day 10 - More scenic driving, Isle of Mull, Tobermory

Tobermory harbour

Today we headed towards the Isle of Mull, staying at a hotel there for the next 2 nights. It's September already!

Along the way we stopped at a memorial dedicated to Commandos that died in WW2 and since. A spectacular setting near Fort William, with Ben Nevis in the background:

With a view of Ben Nevis, at 4000 ft the highest elevation in the British Isles

At least one of the other Seniors Discovery trip set up camp in Fort William for a week or more, and do day trips out and about from there. That's appealing to us, as a lot of what we'd be interested in seeing would be an easy drive from Fort William.

Carrying on we headed for Mull:

A couple of ferry rides along the way

Once on Mull we headed to the picturesque port town of Tobermory for a tour. Some of the businesses were closed, this being Sunday, but still a good place for a browse:

Another pretty protected harbour

Yes, those were real palm trees

The rumour was that next year's tour will stay at that hotel up the bluff on the right

Backtracking a bit, we headed to the Isle of Mull Hotel, catchy name eh, where we'll be staying for 2 nights.

A pleasant room

A good meal and good company
