Through Washington State and Seattle, on to Langley BC

Vantage Bridge

On the road at 7:55 MDT on a lovely morning. Cooked pancakes and eggs for bfast, then called home (everything is fine there). Stopped at a magnificent viewing area on the Columbia River - much like Badlands and prairie grasses, sweeping vista views. This was the first time we saw and smelled sagebrush.

Here is a link to a modern Youtube video of the bridge and area:

Later we stopped in Roslyn WA to see all the Northern Exposure TV series buildings. The town looks much like it did in the series, and they treat it as a tourist attraction. Got souvenirs for all of us.

From Ritzville to Seattle along I90 is fantastic scenery - prairie, to badlands, to foothills, then mountains.

We drove through a horrendous amount of traffic in Seattle, and decided we didn’t want to stop there after all. We were early, but called Donna and Bob, and they said to come on along anytime and they would wait supper for us. We stopped and got a bottle of Washington Valley white wine for supper, and got to Langley BC about 5pm PDT. D&B have a really nice house, small but not cramped-feeling. Delicious chicken & pasta supper. Cath & I were in bed (slept in the van still) by 9:30.
